ggg開設25周年と『ggg Books（世界のグラフィックデザインシリーズ』（1992年創刊）100号刊行を記念しての展覧会。ggg Booksに登場した100組の代表作100点（1組1作品）を通じて世界のグラフィックデザインを展望。また電子書籍版ggg Booksをお披露目。百花繚乱、100組の個性を総覧した展覧会。

The exhibition commemorated both the 25th anniversary of ggg’s founding and he publication of the 100th volume in the "ggg Books" series ("World Graphic Design") launched in 1992. One representative work by each of 10 featured artist or groups was shown, giving visitors a broad and kaleidoscope overview of graphic design around the world, along with a glimpse into the unique individuality if each featured artist or group. The very first e-book version of the series was also unveiled.

ワルシャワ生まれ。ワルシャワ美術アカデミーで学び、ワルシャワ国際ポスタービエンナーレ金賞等を受賞し、ロンドン王立美術学院より名誉ロイヤルデザイナーに任命される。ワルシャワ美術アカデミーで教授を務め、ポーランドのみならず世界からアトリエに来た学生にも教え、大きな影響を与えたポーランドポスターの巨匠。

Born in Warsaw, Poland. He studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, won numerous prizes including Gold Prize at the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, and was bestowed the title of Honorary Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal Society of Arts in London. Tomaszewski also taught at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. In view of his great influence, today he is widely acknowledged as the grand master of Polish poster art.

Born in Niigata Prefecture. He established the Nippon Design Center in 1960. After receiving the Grand Prize from the Ministry of Education, he began freelancing. Since that time, he was won numerous awards both in Japan and throughout the world. These have included the Purple Ribbon Medal, the Asahi Award, the Mainichi Art Award, the Third Class Order of the Sacred Treasure, The Cultural Meritorious Service Medal, the Warsaw International Poster Biennale Special Art Award, and the Lahti International Poster Biennale Grand Prix. In 1994, he received  the Mainichi Design Special Award for editing the 20 volume design magazine, "Creation." In the same year he also received an honorary doctorate from the Warsaw Academy of Art. He was chairman of JAGDA and is Chairman of the Board of the Japan Design Committee. Books: "Yusaku Kamekura's Designs" and "Yusaku Kamekura's Outspoken Flight."

He was given the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw in 1994. His main publications include "Yusaku Kamekura"s Designs," "The Universe of Curves and Straight Lines," and "Yusaku Kamekura's frank Flight of Words."

Born in Osaka. In 1936, graduated from Osaka City Kogei High School (Design Course). After stints working in the advertising department of Mitsukoshi and Kintetsu department stores, went freelance in 1952. His main awards include the Osaka Arts Prize in 1954; the 1st Mainichi Industrial Design Award (today's Mainichi Design Award) om 1955; also became a member of AGI: participated in "Graphic'55" exhibition. In 1960, he served as a panelist at the World Industrial Design Conference and in 1970, participated in the basic color planning for the World Expo in Osaka. In 1981, he received the 12th Kodansha Culture Award in Publishing, in 1982, was awarded a Medal with a Purple Ribbon by the Japanese Government and in 1984, received the 5th Yamana Prize. In 1988, was awarded the Fourth Order of the Rising Sun Medal by the Japanese Government. In 1996, was inducted into the Tokyo ADC Hall of Fame. His works are in the permanent collections in many museums around the world. His main publications include "The World of Yoshio Hayakawa," the collection of essays, "Feeling to Pass the Time," and a collection of dialogues, "In Between Emptiness and Substance."

Born in Osaka, he left the sculpture department of the Tokyo National University of Fine Art and Music in 1951 and helped establish the Nippon Design Center in 1960. Born in Osaka, Mr Nagai attended Tokyo National University of Fine Arts an Music until withdrawing in 1951. In 1960 he participated in the founding of Nippon Design Center, where he currently serves as Senior Executive Advisor. He has created numerous symbols through the years, including for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, Expo'75 in Okinawa and Asahi Breweries. He has also designed a broad range of posters for corporate advertising, musical performances, exhibitions, etc., and overseas. Mr. Nagai is a member of Tokyo ADC and AGI.

Born in Osaka, Kazumasa Nagai attended Tokyo National University of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts), where he studied Sculpture until withdrawing in 1951. In 1960, he participated in the founding of the Nippon Design Center, together with Ikko Tanaka and other up-and-coming young designers. In 1975 Mr. Nagai became that organization’s president, and he currently serves as its chief executive advisor. He also serves as special advisor to JAGDA.
During his long career he has created logomarks, CI and posters for numerous clients including: the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, Okinawa Expo ’75, Ibaraki and Niigata prefectures, Japan Agricultural Cooperatives (JA), Asahi Breweries, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, etc. In the late 1980s Mr. Nagai launched his “LIFE” series featuring flora and fauna motifs, and in 2003 his creative endeavors expanded to copperplate printmaking.
He has won a host of awards, both global and domestic: Tokyo ADC Grand Prize, Yusaku Kamekura Design Award, Mainichi Design Award, Mainichi Art Award, Himeji Cultural Arts Grand Prize, Warsaw International Poster Biennale Gold Prize, and International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno Grand Prize. From the Japanese Government he has received the prestigious Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts, Medal with Purple Ribbon, and Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette.
Mr. Nagai’s works are included in the permanent collections of more than 20 museums worldwide, including the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design, Museum of Modern Art, New York (MoMA), and Metropolitan Museum of Art.

His works are in the permanent collections of 46 museums around the world. He received numerous awards, including the Mainichi Design Award and International Poster Biennale, Warsaw Gold Medal.

Born in Tokyo in 1940. After completing the design course at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music (now, Tokyo University of the Arts) in 1964, he initially worked in the advertising division of Shiseido Co., Ltd. In 1971 he founded Shin Matsunaga Design Inc. Mr. Matsunaga’s creative activities center on graphic design, including posters, corporate identity (CI) planning and packaging, but also run a broad gamut from drawings and sculpture to monuments. His major works to date include: summer campaigns for Shiseido; a series of peace posters; total graphics for Sezon Museum of Art; CI planning for Benesse Corporation, Issey Miyake and The National Museum of Western Art; and package design for Scottie tissues, Can Chu-Hi beverage, Shiseido “uno” men’s cosmetics, and the French cigarette brand Gitanes (finishing 1st in an international competition).

Born in Tokyo. After graduating in art from Tokyo Kyoiku University, he spent a year researching design and photography. He established the Katsui Design Office in 1961 after working for Ajinomoto Co., Ltd. His awards include the Japan Advertising Artists Club Award, the International Poster Biennale Warsaw Gold Medal, the Bruno International Graphic Design Biennale Silver Medal and Grand Prize, as well as the 1992 Recommended Artists Award from the Ministry of Education, in 1992. He is a member of the Tokyo ADC, JAGDA, TDS and the AGI. Books: "Graphic Design in the World," "Modern Design Dictionary," and "Modern Graphic Design System CG Edition" among others.

Born in Tokyo. After graduation from Tokyo University of Education, he initially worked for Ajinomoto until he established his own design office in 1961. His field is visual design, primarily focused on visually infusing information into graphic design. His range of activities is remarkably wide, including art direction of numerous expositions, design education, and serving as a judge at international competitions. He is a member of Tokyo ADC and AGI and serves as a director of JAGDA. He is Professor Emeritus at Musashino Art University.

Born in New York, he is a leading figure in creating graphic symbols and titles for movies such as "Psyco," "Golden Artm," and "The Age of Innocence." He also made many trademarks and programs for companies such as AT&T, Minolta and Kibun. He has gotten the AIGA Gold Medal and is an honorary member in Industrial Design of the English Royal Art Association, a trustee of UCLA, and a director of the Aspen International Design Conference. He is in the NY ADC and his works are in the permanent collections of MoMA and the Praha Museum of Art.

Born in London, he graduated from Harvard University, the Institute of Design in Chicago and Yale University, School of Art and Architecture. He has gotten many awards from the Art Directors Club of New York, the Typo-Directors Club, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Society of Illustrators. The American Institute of Architects honored him with its Industrial Art Medal in 1967. The fifth Avenue Association gave him a special award in 1974 for his contribution to the visual environment of New York. In 1979 he received the Gold Medal of AIGA. In 1982 he was named to the New York ADC Hall of Fame. In 1985 he was received the Yale Arts Award Medal. He is a past president of AIGA. He was a member of both the Yale committee on Art and Architecture and Harvard University Board of Overseers Committee on Visual and Environmental Studies, a National Trustee of the Smithsonian Institute and a member of the Board of Directors of the International Design Conference in Aspen. He is currently vice president of AIGA and AGI member.

Born in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. He graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (now, Tokyo University of the Arts) with a degree in Visual Design. After initially working in the advertising department of Shiseido, he went freelance in 1971. He won a Tokyo ADC Award in 1985, a Mainichi Design Award in 1991, and the Education Minister’s Art Encouragement Prize for young artists in 1997. He has also won numerous awards at international poster competitions, including at the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). His works are part of permanent collections at many art museums both in Japan and abroad. Mr. Sato is presently a member of JAGDA, AGI, Japan Design Committee, Tokyo ADC and Tokyo TDC. He is best known for his unique style of expression acclaimed for its Oriental touch, but in recent years he has been working with other modes of free expression. He is a professor at Tama Art University.

 Born in Tokyo. In 1956, after graduating from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts & Music (now called Tokyo University of the Arts), where he majored in Design, he joined the advertising department at Shiseido. Later he moved to Deska until 1961, when he established Nakajo Design Office. Nakajo's major work in a career now spanning more than four decades includes: art direction and design for Hanatsubaki, Shiseido's cultural magazine, and for The Ginza / Tactics Design; logo and packaging design for Shiseido Parlour; logo and signage planning for the Tokyo Ginza Shiseido Building; corporate identity (CI) planning for Matsuya Ginza, Wacoal Spiral, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, and Hosomi Museum; illustrations for "Nihongo de Asobo" (Let's Play in Japanese), a children's program on NHK; and cover illustrations for Kurashi no Techo magazine. Among his numerous awards received to date are the Tokyo Art Directors Club Members Award Grand Prize, the Tokyo Type Directors Club Members'  Gold Prize, the Yusaku Kamekura Design Award, the Mainichi Design Award, the Japan Advertising Awards' Yamana Prize, and – from the Japanese Government – a Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon and The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette. Born in Milan, he participated in a Futurist exhibition with plastic and paintings in 1927. He established MAC, a representational art group with Monet and others in 1945. He made a children's picture book with a new format. His "Original Xerography" (photocopy artwork) was announced throughout the world in 1965. In 1967, he held a class in visual design at Harvard University. A children's workshop was held at the Brera Museum of Art in Milan in 1977. His "art to play with" method was established. A "Great Munari Exhibition" was held in Tokyo at the Children's Castle in 1985. His is an honorary professor of architecture at Genova University and at honorary member of Harvard University. His over 60 books have been translated into many languages. His many awards include the Gold Compass Award.

He joined Light Publicity in 1964 ad established the Katsumi Asaba Design Room in 1975. He went to Yunnan, China, in 1990 to fine the illusive Nakhi pictographic script and had a one-man show of new works at the ggg. Recent works in advertising include "Nature is the Model" for the Saison Group, "A Delicious Life" for Seibu Department Store, "Highway of Dreams" for Suntory Old, "A Regular Guy when Drinking" for Suntory White and "Schwarzenegger Eats " for Nissin Foods among others. His many awards include JAAC Honorable Mention in 1985, the ADC Members Award in 1974, 1979 and 1989, the Mainichi Design Award in 1980, the Japan Advertising Prize, Yamana Award in 1989 and the ADC Members Hiromu Hara Award in 1990. He is a member of Tokyo ADC and JAGDA and Chairman of Tokyo TDC.

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1940. After graduating from Kuwasawa Design School and working at Keinosuke Sato Typography Studio and Light Publicity, he founded Katsumi Asaba Design Studio in 1975. Many of his creations as an art director have made a lasting mark in the history of Japanese advertising design. Representative works include landmark ads for Seibu Department Stores, Suntory and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, and package design for Kirin tea. Asaba is an expert on Dongba, an ancient pictorial script still used in some areas of China. He has received numerous awards, including the Japan Advertising Artists Club Special Prize, Tokyo Type Directors Club Award, Mainichi Design Prize, Japan Advertising Awards Yamana Prize, Japan Academy Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, Tokyo Art Directors Club Grand Prix, and two decorations from the Japanese Government: a Medal with Purple Ribbon; and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette. Asaba is chairman of the Tokyo Type Directors Club, a committee member of the Tokyo Art Directors Club, president of JAGDA (Japan Graphic Designers Association), Japan representative in the Alliance Graphique Internationale, director of Kuwasawa Design School, and visiting professor at Tokyo Zokei University and Kyoto Seika University. He has a 6th level ranking in table tennis.

He joined the Shiseido advertising department in 1948 and after becoming General Manager of Advertising with a ranking equal to a director while also General Manager of Production, he is now a full-time advisor. He got the Japan Advertising Artists Club Special Mention and Members Award, the Tokyo ADC Award, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Members Awards. The Asahi Advertising Award, the Mainichi Advertising Award, the Warsaw International Biennial Gold and and Special Mention Awards, the Kinugasa Award, the Yamana Award, and the Advertising Dentsu Award. Born in Osaka, he graduated from Tama Art University in 1959 and started working for Light publicity where he handled advertising for Toyo Rayon and Canon Camera among others. He started freelancing in 1968 and became art editor for "Hanashi no Tokushu" in 1965. He did the covers from "Shukan Sankei" between 1968-73 and for "Shukan Bunshun" from 1977. He won the Bunshun Comics Award, the Kodansha Publishing Cultural Book Design Award and the Japan Non-Fiction Award. He directed "Mahjong Meanderings" in 1984 and "Ruby―The Elusive Thief" in 1988.

In 1959 joined Light Publicity after graduating from Tama Art University, and began working independently from 1968. Participated in "Hanashi no Tokushu" magazine as art director. From 1968, in as series that ran for more than 4 years, began drawing caricature covers for "Sakei Weekly." From 1977 to present, of "Weekly Bunshun." Major awards include1974, Kodansha Publication Culture Award (book design), 1997, Mainichi Design Prize. Authored more than 100 published works. Born in New York, he studied illustrations and graphic design at Cooper Union. He was a founding member of the Pushpin Studios and became the director of the Pushpin Group in 1985. He works in many areas including designs, advertising, packaging and illustrations. He was AD for the magazine, "Pushpin Graphics." His recent works are in the Delpierre Gallery, the Zurich Industrial Art Museum, the Gutenberg Museum and the São Paulo Art Museum. He has gotten the Cooper Union St. Gorden Medal, and the American Institute of Graphic Arts Gold Medal. He was named to to the New York ADC Hall of Fame. His works are in the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper Hewitt Museum of the Smithsonian Institute and the Israel Art Museum. He is a Cooper Union professor, vice-president of the American Graphic Art Association, and an AIGA member.

Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture, Kasai Kaoru joined SUN-AD Company Limited in 1973 after stints working at Bunka Printing Co., Ltd. and Ohtani Design. He currently serves as advisor at SUN-AD Company Limited. His creative activities span a wide range, including advertising and art direction for Suntory Oolong Tea, United Arrows, Toraya Confectionery, and TORAYA CAFÉ, as well as corporate identity and signage, graphics and title design for films and theaters, and book design. Major awards received include the Tokyo ADC Grand Prix, Hiromu Hara Memorial Prize, Mainichi Design Award, and the Yusaku Kamekura Design Award. His publications include KASAI Kaoru 1968 (Art Design Publishing).

Born in Tokyo. His real name is Yuji SAto. He left Tokyo Gakugei University but graduated from the Kuwasawa Design Institute. He established the Design Farm in 1975 after working in the Oka Studio. His awards include the 1977 New York  ADC "Japanese Graphic Design Exhibition" Silver Medal, the 1978 Bruno Graphic Design Biennale Gold Medal, the 1979 Lahti Poster Biennale Gold Medal, and the 1989 Bulgaria Artists Union Award. Among his many one-man shows at home and abroad are "My Theory of Evolution" (Gallery Okabe) in 1972, "U.G. Sato Poster Exhibition" (La Salle Museum of Art, Italy). Books: "The Personal Theory of Evolution by U.G. Sato," "In the Fantastic Zoo," "The Two-legged and The Four-legged" and "Wooden Boxes."

The Dutch design group, Studio Dumbar was founded by Gert Dumbar in 1977. Their involvement in public design, such works done for the Dutch Railways, the Dutch Postal and Telecom Services, the Dutch Police and paper currency designs have been highly acclaimed. The group does not only represent the dutch design but also is a leader of the European design world. The Studio Dumbar created a range of typography that anticipated the present computer age and continues to produce provocative works that surprise the public. Studio Dumbar won many national and international prizes. Gert Dumbar has been the chairman of the Dutch Association of Graphic Designers.

Born on Tanegashima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, Yoichiro Kawaguchi began research in creating designs using programming and computer graphics in 1976, just as the age of computer graphics was beginning, and went on to garner international attention with his unique works drawing on technological methods based on mathematical algorithms. From around year 2000, Kawaguchi’s research project exploring interactive art, “Gemotion,” became one of the pioneer projects that opened the way to the world of VR and AR application and projection mapping. He was a participating artist at the Japan Pavilion for the 1995 Venice Biennale, and has received a number of major awards in international contests since the 1980s, including a L’Oréal Art & Science Foundation Grand Prize, the Distinguished Artist Award for Lifetime Achievement at ACM Siggraph 2010, and a Prix D’Honneur at the festival Bains Numériques in France in 2018. In the same year he was also inducted into the Siggraph Academy. The awards he has received in Japan include the Minister of Education's Art Encouragement Prize, and the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon, both in 2013. He was a founder of the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Japan Media Arts Festival and first chair of the overall judging panel, and currently holds positions as chairman of the Digital Content Association of Japan, director of the Kirishima Open-Air Museum, and chairs numerous judging panels for media-related contests, among other roles.

Born in Neustrelitz (Mecklenburg), and was trained as a glass painter from 1955 to 1958 at the National Glass Technical School of Hadamar. He studied free production and applied graphics from 1958 to 1963 at Fine Arts of College of Kassel and became a graphic design professor at Kassel Comprehensive University. In 1987 he became the visual communication professor at Kassel University. Many of his works are in collections in leading museums around the world starting with the New York Museum of Modern Art.

Born in Kyoto, he got his M.A. in design from UCLA in 1977 and was a teaching assistant in video and computer graphics. In Japan, he worked in the Takenobu Igarasghi Design Studio before established Polygon Pictures in 1983. Main works include a 6-disc video disc series, and in computer graphics, "Dancing Sony," and "In Search of performing Axis" among others. He won the 1991 Tokyo Typo-Directors Club Members' Gold Award and published "a Collection of Works by Toshifumi Kawahara: Dancing Alphabet" (Rikuyosha).

Born in Gifu Prefecture, he completed graduate work in the Art Department of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. In 1982, while in graduated school, he won 3rd Japan Graphic Exhibition Minister's Award, the 1st Japan Illustration Exhibition Grand Prix and the highest prize at the 30th ADC Awards. He became host for an NHK education TV program, "You," in 1985. Recently, he has had one-man shows in Paris, Barcelona, London and Bruxelles, participated in the 6th Sydney Biennial in 1986 and had a wide range of activities including the "Japanese Art Scene" in Frankfurt in 1990, stage art ""Kokusenya Katsusen" for Yume no Yuminsha), and the interior design for tte J. trip Bar among others. He had a 2-man show, onjin "POCCИЯ (Russia)" with Lulu Picasso in 1991 and a 3-man show, "X department Exhibition" with Noriyuki Tanaka and Atsuhito Sekiguchi.

Born in Oklahoma, U.S.A., he studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and was a member of Push Pin Studios for 5 years. He opened is own studio in 1963. Born in Yamagata Prefecture. Graduated from Waseda University with a degree in Creative Science and Engineering (Architecture). Currently an instructor in the Faculty of Science and Technology of Keio University. actively engaged in architecture, landscape design graphic design, product design, furniture design, photography, fine art, sculpture and criticism. Among his architectural works, "House of Ichikawa" (2003) won the 2003 "Selected Architecture Design" award from Chiba Prefecture, and "Concurred Yokohama" (2008) an award of merit in the Kanagawa Architecture Competition.

Born in Paris. He studied graphic design at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, then spent the year 1965 studying poster design with Henryk Tomaszewski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and completed his studies in 1971 with graduate work at the institute de d'Environment in Paris. In 1970, with two graphic designer friends he founded the graphic art collective Grapus and it ceased activity on its own accord at the end of 1990. In 1991, he founded atelier de Création Graphique with two fellow artists, Dirk Behage and Fokke Draaijer. He is member of the AGI.

After six years of art direction for "DOMUS," he is today editor in chief and art director of "ABITARE." Both magazines are the most famous in the world for architecture and design. Born in Hyogo, he joined Sanyo Train Advertising in 1956. After the Yoshio Hayakawa Design Office, which he joined in 1961, he started freelancing in 1967. Born in Kobe. His professional career began in the advertising department of Sanyo Electric Railway in 1956, after which he joined Yoshio Hayakawa's Design Office in 1961. He went freelance in 1967. His major awards include Gold Prize of the SDA, Kodansha Cultural Awards in Publishing, NY Japan Graphic Design Grand Prize. He granter the Purple Ribbon Medal in 1993. He held a one-man illustration show in Seoul, Korea, in 1982. He is the representative of the Tokyo Illustrators Society.

Born in Dresden, Germany, he studied at he Peter Baren Vocational Training School in Dusseldorf during the latter half of the 1960's. His many awards include the 5th Lahti International Poster Biennale Grand Prize in 1983, the Honorary Award at the 12th Warsaw International Poster Biennale and the Grand Design Quality Award at the 1993 German Communication Design Competition.

After studying at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, she started working in graphic design as a record cover art director for Atlantic Records and CBS Records in the 1970's. Koppel and Scher was established in New York in 1984. She took part in planning Pentagram Co. as a partner in 1991. Her works are in the collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art and the Pompidou Center in Paris. She was put in the New York ADC Hall of Fame in 1998. That year she was also chosen to be the head of the New York branch of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. Her many awards include being nominated four times for a Grammy and the Beacon Award. She is a member of ICOGRADA.

She has been a principal in the New York office of the distinguished international design consultancy Pentagram since 1991, where she has designed identity and branding systems, environmental graphics, packaging and publications for a wide range of clients that includes Citibank, Microsoft, Bloomberg, Shake Shack, the Museum of Modern Art, Tiffany & Co, the High Line, the Public Theater, and the Metropolitan Opera, among others. During the course of her career Scher has been the recipient of hundreds of industry honors and awards; she is a recipient of the National Design Award for Communication Design, the AIGA medal and the Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design, among others. She is an established artist exhibiting worldwide, and her designs are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, the Library of Congress, the Victoria and Albert Museum and other institutions. She is the author of “Make It Bigger” (Princeton Architectural Press, 2002) “MAPS” (Princeton Architectural Press, 2011) and “Works” (Unit Editions, 2017). Scher holds a BFA from the Tyler School of Art and a Doctor of Fine Arts Honoris Causa from the Corcoran College of Art and Design, the Maryland Institute College of Art and Moore College of Art and Design. A documentary on her and her work can be seen in the 2017 Netflix series Abstract: The Art of Design.

武蔵野美術大学教授。2002年より、無印良品のアートディレクションを担当。「もの」ではなく「こと」のデザインを志向している。「RE-DESIGN」「HAPTIC]「SENSEWARE」など既存の価値観を更新するキーワードを擁する展覧会を制作し、世界に巡回。また、長野オリンピックの開・閉会式プログラムや、愛知万博のプロモーションでは、深く日本文化に根ざしたデザインを展開した。一連のデザイン活動によって日本文化デザイン賞ほか受賞多数。著書多数。

He is a professor at Musashino Art University, and prolific writer. Since 2002 he has served as art director for MUJI. He aspires to designing "states" rather than "things." Among his creations are exhibitions - which have toured worldwide - embracing key words that overturn pre-exciting valued: for example, "RE-DESIGN," "HAPTIC" and "SENSEWARE." Meanwhile, for his design of the programs for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics and his promotional campaign for AICHI EXPO 2005, he developed designs deeply rooted in Japanese culture. For his design activities he has garnered numerous awards, including the Japan Inter-Design Forum Award.

宮田識が日本デザインセンター退社後、1978年に株式会社宮田識デザイン事務所（現：株式会社ドラフト）を設立。モスバーガー、ラコステ、PRGR、キリン一番搾り、麒麟端麗＜生＞、日本鉱業、パナソニック電工、花王ソフィーナ、ワコール、世界のKitchenから、ブライトリングなどの広告、SPの企画デザインを中心に、商品開発、業態開発などの企画、プロデュースを手がける。1995年D-BROSをスタートさせ、プロダクトデザインの開発、販売を開始。

DRAFT traces back to 1978, when Satoru Miyata left Nippon Design Center to start his own design office. Today DRAFT handles planning and production duties relating to product and business format development, with focus on advertising and sales promotion planning and design. Clients include Mos food Services, Lacoste, PRGR, Kirin Brewery, Japan Energy, Panasonic, Kao, Wacoal and Breitling Japan. In 1995 DRAFT launched D-BROS engaging in product design development and marketing.

His major awards include, the Grand Prix, Asahi Advertisement Award, the Tokyo ADC Award, the ADC Members' Award, the TCC Special Selection Award, the Mainichi Advertisement Design Award Grand Prix, the Yomiuri Advertisement Grand Award Grand Prize, the Nikkei Advertising Award, and the Product Advertisement Award. His publications include "The Work and Surroundings of Takayuki Soeda." He is a member of Tokyo ADC, Tokyo TDC and JAGDA.

東京・神田生まれ。本名・孝。1929年東京美術学校（現・東京藝術大学）図案化卒業。同年、松竹キネマ（現・松竹）に入社、宣伝部で広告デザインを担当するかたわら、映画美術や演劇・舞踏の舞台美術を多数手がける。1934年日本工房（第二次）、1941年徴用されジャワ派遣軍宣伝班に参加し、46年帰国。1951年日本宣伝美術界の創設、55年グループ展「グラフィック’55」に参加。1959年総合デザイン事務所デスカ設立。以後、1990年に病に倒れるまで旺盛なデザイン活動を展開し、国際的な評価を得た。また大学創設に尽力した愛知県立芸術大学では1984年から89年まで学長を務めるなどデザイン教育にも携わる。1983年日本人初のロイヤルデザイナー・フォア・インダストリー会員に選出。

Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo School of Fine Arts (forerunner of today's Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music) in 1929, where he majored in Design. The same year, he joined Shochiku Kinema (now Shochiku), where he was in charge of advertising design and was also involved in art production for numerous films, plays and dance performances. In 1934 he participated in Nihon Kobo under Yonosuke Natori's leadership. In 1941 he was conscripted and sent to Java as part of a detachment in charge of propaganda: at the end of the war he was interned until his release and return to Japan in 1946. In 1951 he participated in the establishment of the Japan Advertising Artists Club (JAAC). In 1955 he took part in the "Graphic '55" group exhibition, and in 1959 he established in DESKA as a comprehensive design office. He remained highly active, garnering international acclaim, until his health began deteriorating in 1990 especially at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, where in addition to assisting in the institution's foundation (1966) he served as dean from 1984 to 1989. In 1983 he became the first Japanese to be selected as a Royal Designer for Industry.

He established his own company, Beans Co., Ltd., in 1978. Through the years he has forged a prominent career as a graphic designer and art director, the latter area encompassing the realms of advertising, music, publishing, and TV. Today, with innovative creations integrating photography and typography, his design work continues to span across multiple genres. Inoue's major awards received to date include the Tokyo ADC Grand Prize, Tokyo TDC Grand Prize, JAAC Yamana Prize and Mainichi Design Award. Born in Essen, Germany, and studied graphic design at the School of Design in Basel, Switzerland. In 1961, together with Klaus Oberer, he founded the Studio Mendell & Oberer in Munich. In 2000 this studio was reorganizes as the Pierre Mendell Design Studio. His numerous awards include Gold Medals from the Art Directors Club Germany and the Art Directors Club New York, and first prize at the International Biennial of Theatre Poster at Rzeszow, Poland. Pierre Medell's work has been exhibited in the Die Neue Sammlung, Munich, the Munich City Museum, the International Design Centre Berlin, the Muzeum Plakatu Warsaw, the Centro de la Imagen Mexico City and in Chaumont, France. Born in Tokyo. Received a degree in graphic design from Tama Art University in 1989 and joined Hakuhodo that same year. While working at the advertising agency, he handled everything from product development an CI design to packaging, shop and advertising promotional campaigns. In May 2000, he left Hakuhodo and founded the creative studio, Samurai. He has continued to demonstrate new possibilities in art direction without being constrained by existing paradigms. His main awards include the Tokyo ADC Grand Prize, Yusaku Kamekura Award and the New York Festival Silver Prize. at present he is working as a creative director on corporate identity projects and kindergarten renovations, and doing brand development and product designs for cosmetic firms. The projects demonstrate his ability to work as an art director in multiple fields without being constrained by the traditional boundaries separating them.

After graduating from the Tokyo University of the Arts, Eiko Ishioka joined Shiseido as a member of their advertising division in 1961. She distinguished herself with her work on posters featuring actress Bibari Maeda and other such projects, before opening her own agency. In the 1970s, she created and produced a number of groundbreaking campaigns, fashion shows, and book cover designs for Parco, publishing brand Kadokawa Bunko and others. After relocating her base to New York in the early 1980s, she further transcended borders by expanding the scope of her work to areas such as production design and costume design, receiving international acclaim in the form of awards including a Drama Desk Award for set design on the Broadway play M. Butterfly, a Grammy Award for artwork on Miles Davis’s album TUTU and an Academy Award for Best Costume Design for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. She has published the anthologies Eiko by Eiko and Eiko On Stage and authored a book entitled Watashi Dezain (“I Design”) among other works.

Born in Austria in 1962. He earned a Master of Fine Art degree in Graphic Design from the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. Receiving a Fulbright Grant, then went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Communication Design from the Pratt Institute, New York. After working in the Hong Kong office of the Leo Burnett advertising agency and serving as Creative Director for M&Co. in New York. In 1993, he founded Sagmeister Inc. in New York. In addition to four nominations for Packaging Grammys, his numerous international design awards including the Chrysler Award, a gold medal from the New York ADC, and the Grand Prix from Tokyo TDC.

Using his own methods and approaches, Mr. Sato undertakes activities transcending the parameters of any one specific field, his interests encompassing film and video, animation, graphics, education methods, neuroscience and expression-related research. In 1999 he launched the Masahiko Sato Laboratory at Keio University, engaging in the study of concept-oriented expression. The Laboratory participates in the planning of “PythagoraSwitch,” a long-running children’s education program on NHK that has garnered much notice. Mr. Sato’s representative works include the video game software “I.Q. / Intelligent Qube” for PlayStation and three popular children’s programs on NHK: “2355,” “0655” and “Crow Solving the Problem.” His publications to date include “A Conference on ‘So, That’s What the Economy is All About’” (co-authored with Heizo Takenaka), “Monthly Newspaper,” “An Arbitrary Point P,” “Difference” and “Pythagoras Device: DVD Book.” His many awards won to date include the Asahi Advertising Highest Award, Tokyo ADC Grand Prix, ACC Grand Prix, Creator of the Year (1991), Mainichi Design Award, Prime Minister’s Award, New York ADC Gold Prize, Mathematical Society of Japan Publication Prize, D&AD Award, Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts (2011) and Medal with Purple Ribbon (2013).

Born in Shizuoka. He graduated from the Faculty of Education at the University of Tokyo. After working for Dentsu, he established TOPICS in 1994. In 1999 he was appointed a professor in the Faculty of Environmental Information at Keio University, and since 2006 he has been a professor in the Graduate School of Film and New Media at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. His publications include "The Computer Works of Masahiko Sato", "The Monthly Newspaper" and "F is coming thorough."  His other wide-ranging activities include the short film "Kino," the Play Station game "I.Q," NHK's educational television program "Pythagora-Switch," and research on the relationship between neuroscience and expression.

She is the president of the Uchu Country design group, and affiliated internationally with the Partizan production group in Los Angels. In 2006 she will turn her hand to directing the Coca-Cola worldwide advertising campaign. She is the creator of advertisements for Laforet, Nike, Suntory Latte Latte milk coffee, and the opening titles for "Honey and Clover," as well as CD jackets and music videos for musicians such as YUKI, Hikaru Utada, and overseas artists. Her wide-ranging activities encompass advertising campaigns, short films, graphic design, product design, clothing design, package design and even editorial design. Recently she has also been involved in fine art exhibitions and installations. She created the hanpandas. Numerous awards include the Tokyo TDC Award, the Tokyo ADC Award, the New York Festival Silver Award, and Gold and Silver Awards from the New York ADC.

Born in Tokyo. Moved to New York, USA in 1983 and returned to Japan in 1987. After working at I&S, Onuki Design, SUN-AD, founded Uchu Country in 2003. She is a member of Tokyo TDC and JAGDA.

Established in 1992 in Berlin by Daniela Haufe and Detlef Fiedler. 1996 cyanpress was founded for the design and publication ob books. The team has been involved with many projects commissioned by cultural facilities, including books, magazines, movies, and multimedia works. Its clients include not only the Berlin State Opera, Radio Free Berlin, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the Berlin Academy of Arts, but also a large number of galleries and publishing companies. Haufe and Fiedler are both professors at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts and members of AGI. Their most recent signature work includes the design of the German Pavilion for the 2004 Venice International Exhibition of Architecture. Posters by cyan are held by many poster collections, including those of the MoMA in New York, the Poster Museum in the Lower Rhineland at Emmerich, and the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg. Other members of cyan are Ketja Schwalenberg, Julia Fushs and Schmitt.

東京生まれ。1985年多摩美術大学美術学部デザイン学科卒業後、同年株式会社博報堂入社。アートディレクター、シニアクリエイティブディレクターを経て、2003年5月、戦略から広告までトータルにブランディングを手がける、株式会社HAKUHODO DESIGNを設立し、代表取締役社長に就任。JAGDA新人賞、日経広告賞グランプリ、フジサンケイグループ広告大賞、2004クリエイター・オブ・ザ・イヤー、2005東京ADC賞グランプリなど多数受賞。東京ADC会員、JAGDA会員。

Born in Tokyo. In 1985 he graduated from the Faculty of Art and Design of Tama Art University, and joined Hakuhodo Inc. in the same year. after serving as an art director and senior creative director at this major ad agency, in May 2003 he established and became president of Hakuhodo Design, which handles all aspects of branding from strategies to advertising. His numerous awards include the JAGDA New Designer Award, the Nikkei Advertising Awards Grand Prize, the Fuji Sankei Group Advertising Grand Prize, Creator of the Year 2004, and the 2005 Tokyo ADC Awards Grand Prize. He is a member of the Tokyo ADC and JAGDA.

Born in 1936 in Tokyo, Keiichi Tanaami graduated from Musashino Art University. He has been a professor at the Kyoto University of Art and Design since 1991. Since the 1960s he has pursued an active career as a graphic designer, a film maker and an artist, successfully transcending the boundaries between the three, to become a trailblazing representation of a modern, versatile artist, who exerts a considerable influence on artists around the world. Recent major exhibitions include “International Pop” (Walker Art Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA; 2015-2016), “The World Goes Pop” (Tate Modern, London; 2015), “Japanorama. A new vision on art since 1970” (Centre Pompidou-Metz, France; 2017), “Hello World. Revising a Collection” (Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin, Germany; 2018), “Keiichi Tanaami” (K11 Foundation, Guangzhou, China; 2018), and many more. In recent times, major global art galleries, such as MoMA (USA), Walker Art Center (USA), Art Institute of Chicago (USA), M+ Museum for Visual Culture (Hong Kong), National Portrait Gallery (USA), Hamburger Bahnhof (Germany) house collections of his works.

Born in Tokyo. After graduating from Musashino Art University, worked for one year at Hakuhodo Inc. Since then, he has engaged in an array of avant-garde and highly playful creative activities in areas including animation ,painting, illustration and editorial design. Along with his graphic design work, he has continuously experimented in the visual realm as well, and his works have been shown at film festivals around the world. Since 1981, he adopted an artistic style of expression in which he borrowed numerous Asian forms such as strange-looking pines, cranes and elephants, which he has fashioned into paintings, films and prints depicting the realms of memories and dreams. His solo exhibitions include Musee-Chateau d'Annecy in France, the Ikeda Museum of 20th Century Art, the Transplant Gallery in New York. His main publications include "BLOW UP," "The Dancing Goldfish," and "spiral." He also has many films and animation DVDs
