Born in Hyogo Prefecture. Established Hirano Studio in 1997, then in 2005 together with Aoshi Kudo she founded Communication Design Laboratory (CDL). Her major works to date include: symbol design and visual identity planning for the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; total art direction for launching Shiseido's "qiora" cosmetics in the U.S. and NTT DoCoMo's "F702iD Shosa" mobile phone series; planning, configuration and venue design for the "Icons of the Times: 50 Years of Japanese Graphic Design" exhibition. She has won numerous awards to date.
