    Born in Niigata Prefecture. He established the Nippon Design Center in 1960. After receiving the Grand Prize from the Ministry of Education, he began freelancing. Since that time, he was won numerous awards both in Japan and throughout the world. These have included the Purple Ribbon Medal, the Asahi Award, the Mainichi Art Award, the Third Class Order of the Sacred Treasure, The Cultural Meritorious Service Medal, the Warsaw International Poster Biennale Special Art Award, and the Lahti International Poster Biennale Grand Prix. In 1994, he received the Mainichi Design Special Award for editing the 20 volume design magazine, "Creation." In the same year he also received an honorary doctorate from the Warsaw Academy of Art. He was chairman of JAGDA and is Chairman of the Board of the Japan Design Committee. Books: "Yusaku Kamekura's Designs" and "Yusaku Kamekura's Outspoken Flight."

    Born in Niigata Prefecture. After graduating from the Institute of New Architecture and Industrial Arts, he participated in organizing Nippon Design Center, Inc. in 1960. He became a freelance designer in 1962. His numerous awards include the Purple Ribbon Medal, Third Class Order of the Sacred Treasure, Person of Cultural Merits, and Gold Prize at the International Poster Biennale, Warsaw, Silver Prize at the International Biennale of Graphic Design, Brno and Grand Prize at the Lahti Poster Biennale. He was the editor of "Creation" magazine focused on international graphic design, art and illustration and was awarded Mainichi Design Award and Tokyo ADC Members' Award for the 20 total issues in 1994. He was given the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw in 1994. His main publications include "Yusaku Kamekura"s Designs," "The Universe of Curves and Straight Lines," and "Yusaku Kamekura's frank Flight of Words."
