Born in Hyogo, he joined Sanyo Train Advertising in 1956. After the Yoshio Hayakawa Design Office, which he joined in 1961, he started freelancing in 1967. He won the SDA Gold Prize, the Kodansha Publishing Cultural Award, the Nippon Printing Industry Chairman's Award, the Fuji Sankei Magazine Advertising Illustration Award. He is a lecturer at the Kuwasawa Design Institute, a member of the selection committee for the Kodansha Publishing Cultural Illustration Award, and a TIS representative.

Born in Kobe. His professional career began in the advertising department of Sanyo Electric Railway in 1956, after which he joined Yoshio Hayakawa's Design Office in 1961. He went freelance in 1967. His major awards include Gold Prize of the SDA, Kodansha Cultural Awards in Publishing, NY Japan Graphic Design Grand Prize. He granter the Purple Ribbon Medal in 1993. He held a one-man illustration show in Seoul, Korea, in 1982. He is the representative of the Tokyo Illustrators Society.
