Profile
Born in Essen, Germany, and studied graphic design at the School of Design in Basel, Switzerland. In 1961, together with Klaus Oberer, he founded the Studio Mendell & Oberer in Munich. In 2000 this studio was reorganizes as the Pierre Mendell Design Studio. His numerous awards include Gold Medals from the Art Directors Club Germany and the Art Directors Club New York, and first prize at the International Biennial of Theatre Poster at Rzeszow, Poland. Pierre Medell's work has been exhibited in the Die Neue Sammlung, Munich, the Munich City Museum, the International Design Centre Berlin, the Muzeum Plakatu Warsaw, the Centro de la Imagen Mexico City and in Chaumont, France. His works are included in the Graphic Design Collection of the Museum of Modern Art New York. He is a member of the AGI/
