Born in Saitama. After working at rockin’on inc., established Nakajima Design Ltd. in 1995. In 1999, participated in "code," a unit also including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Norika Sora (sky) and Shigeo Goto. Since 2004, participated in the London-based unit "POCKO." 1996-2001, The Art Directors Club Annual Awards, 5 Gold Medals, 7 Silver Medals; 1999, the ADC Award from Tokyo Art Directors Club; 2000, The 19th International Biennale of Graphic Design Brno 2000, Award for Best Design in the Category of Books and Exhibition Catalogues; the Chicago Athenaeum's Good Design Awards, Good Design 2001; 2003, The 34th Kodansha Publication Culture Award, Award for Book Design; 2004 The 3rd International Poster Biennial, Ningbo 2004, Special Prize selected by International Jury (Wang Xu / China); 2006, The Type Directors Club's TDC 52, Judge's Award (Andy Altman, Why Not Associates / UK); Tokyo Type Directors Club Annual Awards 2006, Grand Prix; and many others. His main publications include "Revival," "Hideki Nakajima: Artist, Designer and Director," etc. Members of AGI, N.Y.ADC, Tokyo TDC, Tokyo ADC.
