Profile
Born in Tokyo. after graduating from Kuwasawa Design School in 1962, he worked at advertising design agencies before establishing the Masuteru Aoba Design Office in 1969. His numerous awards include the Asahi Advertising Award, the Brno International Graphic Design Biennale Grand Prix, the Warsaw International Poster Biennale Gold prize, and the New York Art Directors Club International Exhibition Gold Prize. In 1993 he produced the first official poster for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. He won the JAAC Yamana Prize in 1995, and in 2006 was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon. He is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale, a committee member of the Tokyo Art Directors Club and a director of Japan Graphic Designers Association.
