Born in Miyazaki Prefecture. In 1978 he established Beans. He has performed art direction and creative advertising for numerous publications, music, television, etc., for Parco, Suntory, Comme de Garçons, and The Asahi Simbun. Among the many prizes he has won to date are the Tokyo ADC Grand Prize, Tokyo TDC Members Award and the Mainichi Advertising Award. He is a member of Tokyo ADC, Tokyo TDC and JAGDA.

He established his own company, Beans Co., Ltd., in 1978. Through the years he has forged a prominent career as a graphic designer and art director, the latter area encompassing the realms of advertising, music, publishing, and TV. Today, with innovative creations integrating photography and typography, his design work continues to span across multiple genres. Inoue's major awards received to date include the Tokyo ADC Grand Prize, Tokyo TDC Grand Prize, JAAC Yamana Prize and Mainichi Design Award. His major publications are "ggg Books-64 Tsuguya Inoue," "Inoue Tsuguya Graphic Works 1981-2007" (Little More), and "Inoue Tsuguya Graphics: Talking the Dragon" (Little More).
