世界がもっとも切実に解決を求めている「Ecology」をテーマに、内外15ヶ国、49名のデザイナーが、再生紙、大豆インキを用いてエコロジーメッセージを発信。併せて、私たちの生活に身近なエコロジーデザインの数々を紹介した。

Using recycled paper and soybean ink, 49 designers from 15 countries, including Japan, presented messages about ecology, a problem that the world most urgently needs to solve. Various ecological designs that are closely related to our daily lives were presented in the exhibition.

Born in Kyoto. Completed Master's Couse in Visual Design, Kyoto City University of Arts in 1970. Settled in Tokyo; joined Hakuhodo. Return to Kyoto; became a free-lance woodcut print artist in 1975. His main awards include, Clio Prize (N.Y), Salon d'Autumne and Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts at Grand Palais (Paris). Born in Tokyo. Received a degree in graphic design from Tama Art University in 1989 and joined Hakuhodo that same year. While working at the advertising agency, he handled everything from product development an CI design to packaging, shop and advertising promotional campaigns. In May 2000, he left Hakuhodo and founded the creative studio, Samurai. He has continued to demonstrate new possibilities in art direction without being constrained by existing paradigms. His main awards include the Tokyo ADC Grand Prize, Yusaku Kamekura Award and the New York Festival Silver Prize. at present he is working as a creative director on corporate identity projects and kindergarten renovations, and doing brand development and product designs for cosmetic firms. The projects demonstrate his ability to work as an art director in multiple fields without being constrained by the traditional boundaries separating them.

Born in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. He graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (now, Tokyo University of the Arts) with a degree in Visual Design. After initially working in the advertising department of Shiseido, he went freelance in 1971. He won a Tokyo ADC Award in 1985, a Mainichi Design Award in 1991, and the Education Minister’s Art Encouragement Prize for young artists in 1997. He has also won numerous awards at international poster competitions, including at the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). His works are part of permanent collections at many art museums both in Japan and abroad. Mr. Sato is presently a member of JAGDA, AGI, Japan Design Committee, Tokyo ADC and Tokyo TDC. He is best known for his unique style of expression acclaimed for its Oriental touch, but in recent years he has been working with other modes of free expression. He is a professor at Tama Art University.

Born in Gifu Prefecture, he completed graduate work in the Art Department of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. In 1982, while in graduated school, he won 3rd Japan Graphic Exhibition Minister's Award, the 1st Japan Illustration Exhibition Grand Prix and the highest prize at the 30th ADC Awards. He became host for an NHK education TV program, "You," in 1985. Recently, he has had one-man shows in Paris, Barcelona, London and Bruxelles, participated in the 6th Sydney Biennial in 1986 and had a wide range of activities including the "Japanese Art Scene" in Frankfurt in 1990, stage art ""Kokusenya Katsusen" for Yume no Yuminsha), and the interior design for tte J. trip Bar among others. Born in Hyogo Prefecture. Established Hirano Studio in 1997, then in 2005 together with Aoshi Kudo she founded Communication Design Laboratory (CDL). Her major works to date include: symbol design and visual identity planning for the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; total art direction for launching Shiseido's "qiora" cosmetics in the U.S. and NTT DoCoMo's "F702iD Shosa" mobile phone series; planning, configuration and venue design for the "Icons of the Times: 50 Years of Japanese Graphic Design" exhibition. She has won numerous awards to date.

After graduating from the Hiroshima branch of Nippon Designers School, he relocated to Tokyo and joined the design office of Katsumi Asaba. He remained there until 1985 when he joined  ADC, staying there until he went freelance in 1999. since 2010, looking for possible ways of making social contributions through design, Mr. Fukushima has planned and carried out numerous social projects. These include two activities in support of regions affected by the Great East japan Earthquake: UNESCO's "Player Tree Project" and the JAGDA exhibition "Handkerchiefs for Tohoku Children."

Born in Kobe. Established Ken Miki & Associates in 1982. Throughout his career he has undertaken “design by talking” – developing a design by a process similar to speaking – and “design by listening” – designing by probing the origins of things. Working from an underlying theme of “realizing from realization,” he infuses emotional communication into serene expression. His major works to date include the kit for the 2003 Icograda Congress in Nagoya, promotion of the ThinkPad for IBM Japan, Ltd., logomarks for BELLE MAISON, Osaka University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, KEIKYU Department Store, etc. In recent years a book about his “Apple” project – subtitled “Learning to Design, Designing to Learn” – was published in Switzerland (Lars Müller Publishers) for worldwide circulation. Among the numerous prizes he has received at home and abroad to date are the JAGDA New Designer Award, Japan Typography Annual Grand Prix, Tokyo Type Directors Club Bronze Award, International Poster Triennial in Toyama Silver Prize, New York Art Directors’ Club Bronze Award, etc. In addition to “APPLE,” he has also published “Ken Miki Selected Works 1994-2002” (amus arts press). 香港生まれ。国際的広告代理店に約10年勤務した後、独学でデザインを学び、1981年にアラン・チャン・デザイン事務所を設立。1989年香港アーティスト・ギルドより「デザイナー・オブ・イヤー」に指名される。

Born in Hong Kong. After working for about 10 years in an international advertising firm, he studied design by himself and established the Alan Chan Design Office in 1981. He was designated "Artist of the Year" in 1989 by the Hong Kong Artist Guild.

Born in Mexico, he studied graphic design by going to Milan in Italy in 1976. After he returned to Mexico in 1977, he worked with Vicente　　Rojo  at the Publishing company, Maderoa, which is known for having fostered many designers. Montalvo was then chosen as one of 6 graphic designers to make the ICOGRADA 25th Anniversary Commemoration in 1988. He worked as a director in the Salumo Design Offices from 1989 to 1993 primarily on cultural projects. He is currently freelancing. He is a member of System de Creadores (a nationwide creators) oeganization and Quorum & Drama Visual (a theatrical video association).

Born in Hamburg, he studied at the Works School of Art and the University of Formative Art in Hamburg from 1961-66. He became a free graphic designer in 1966 and a professor at the Berlin University of Art in 1994. He studied on his own and became an independent designer. He is involved in posters, books, pamphlets and even music and graphics for television. Awards include the highest award at the Bruno Design Biennale, the Gold at the New York Art Directors Club, the Gold at the Mexico Poster Biennale, the outstanding award at the Chaumont Poster Festival Icograda, and the Television Animation Emmy Award. His works are permanently displayed in many museums.

He studied graphic arts at the Helsinki University of Industrial Arts. He worked for a Helsinki advertising company for two years after graduation. He has since been a freelance graphic designer specializing in illustrations and poster design. Currently, in addition to heading a graphic design studio, he is teaching at his alma mater. His many awards include 1990 Mexican Poster Biannale Gold Award.

Ken Cato, who heads the Cato Design Inc., is also well known as a graphic designer and has won many awards at home and abroad. His works are in collections of museums  and galleries around the world. He is an AGI member. His many books include "From an Office Ares Point a View," "Design for Businesses," and "First Choice."

チュニス（チュニジア）生まれ。パリ国立美術学校の絵画科を卒業後、早い時期からポスターやグラフィックアートに取り組む。ポスターアーティストとして、主に、公的機関の文化（演劇、オペラ、音楽、舞踏、美術館、フェスティバル）活動の仕事を手がける。また、本のデザイン・制作を行うほか、自分のアトリエに所属するグラフィックデザイナーたちと共同で、数多くの公的機関のビジュアル・アイデンティティや、フランス内外の美術館や特別展のサインシステムをデザイン・制作している。

Born in France, he graduated from the National Parisian School of Art. He received attention at places such as International Poster Biennale, Warsaw in 1986. Not limiting himself to France, he participated in many biennales and joint exhibitions around the world. He had 38 solo exhibitions between 1986 and 1994. He is a prominent French and European poster artist. His many awards include the 1987 and 1992 Paris National Library Cultural Poster Grand Prize and the 1988 International Graphic Design Biennale, Bruno, Bronze Award.

Born in Tunis （Tunisia). Graduated from l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Paris （painting section）, he turned to poster and graphic design early on. As a poster designer, he mainly works in the field of culture （theater, opera, music, dance, museum, festival) and that of institutions （local collectivities, public institutions）. He also designs and produces books and, in cooperation with graphic designers of his studio, designs and produces numerous visual identities for public institutions as well as description systems for museums and temporary exhibitions in and out of France.
As such, he has organized individual exhibitions of posters in France and in a number of foreign countries （Holland, Germany, Rumania, Yugoslavia, Poland, Austria, Portugal, Mexico, URSS, Uruguay, Chili, Finland, India, Philippines, Peru, Cuba, Greece, South Africa, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Argentine, Hungary, Albania, Spain, Japan, Denmark, Turkey, Paraguay, China, Malta, Bolivia, Cambodia, Ecuador and Canada）. He has won numerous awards from most of the great international competitions of poster design （Poland, Finland, Czechoslovakia, USA, China, Japan, Russia, Taiwan…） where he had also been invited as member of the jury on many occasions. In France, he was awarded the Great Award of Cultural Poster at the National Library of France in 1987 and 1992.
He also devotes his time to education: he is professor at ESAG/Penninghen in Paris. He also runs poster design workshops in France, Italy, Sweden, Israel, Canada, Mexico, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, China, Taiwan and Australia.
He is commissioner to the exhibitions "Graphic Designers around the World", "East Coast / West Coast. Graphic Designers in USA", "Swinging London, Graphic Design and Music Today", "9 Women Graphic Designers", "We love books! A World Tour", "The American Dream", "Live in Tokyo" and "Destination Russia", "North-South. Graphic Designers of Europe and Latin America" presented in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 at the Graphic Design Month in Echirolles （books published at Textuel Editions）, and to "The Livre de Poche is 50 years old" in March 2003 at the Pompidou Center in Paris. He was general commissioner to the Graphic Design Festival in 2014 in Paris.
He is member of the AGI （Alliance Graphique Internaionale) since 1997.

After studying at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, she started working in graphic design as a record cover art director for Atlantic Records and CBS Records in the 1970's. Koppel and Scher was established in New York in 1984. She took part in planning Pentagram Co. as a partner in 1991. Her works are in the collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art and the Pompidou Center in Paris. She was put in the New York ADC Hall of Fame in 1998. That year she was also chosen to be the head of the New York branch of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. Her many awards include being nominated four times for a Grammy and the Beacon Award. She is a member of ICOGRADA.

She has been a principal in the New York office of the distinguished international design consultancy Pentagram since 1991, where she has designed identity and branding systems, environmental graphics, packaging and publications for a wide range of clients that includes Citibank, Microsoft, Bloomberg, Shake Shack, the Museum of Modern Art, Tiffany & Co, the High Line, the Public Theater, and the Metropolitan Opera, among others. During the course of her career Scher has been the recipient of hundreds of industry honors and awards; she is a recipient of the National Design Award for Communication Design, the AIGA medal and the Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design, among others. She is an established artist exhibiting worldwide, and her designs are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, the Library of Congress, the Victoria and Albert Museum and other institutions. She is the author of “Make It Bigger” (Princeton Architectural Press, 2002) “MAPS” (Princeton Architectural Press, 2011) and “Works” (Unit Editions, 2017). Scher holds a BFA from the Tyler School of Art and a Doctor of Fine Arts Honoris Causa from the Corcoran College of Art and Design, the Maryland Institute College of Art and Moore College of Art and Design. A documentary on her and her work can be seen in the 2017 Netflix series Abstract: The Art of Design.

Born in Barcelona, Spain, he began working professionally in 1965 and was a freelance illustrator in Paris after 1970. He returned to Barcelona in 1977 and established a studio. His clients include Barcelona City, the Cultural Department of the Cataluna government, Cataluna T.V., and La Bangualdia Newspaper. Torrent undertook the creation of an image for an AIDS organization in Spain. Additionally, he was entrusted with the making of the Barcelona Olympics commemorative stamp in 1992. Recently, he has been internationally active with projects in France, Japan and China. He has been the recipient of a number of awards from  the Graphic Designers Association of Spain. He has had solo exhibition in all parts of France and Spain.

The Dutch design group, Studio Dumbar was founded by Gert Dumbar in 1977. Their involvement in public design, such works done for the Dutch Railways, the Dutch Postal and Telecom Services, the Dutch Police and paper currency designs have been highly acclaimed. The group does not only represent the dutch design but also is a leader of the European design world. The Studio Dumbar created a range of typography that anticipated the present computer age and continues to produce provocative works that surprise the public. Studio Dumbar won many national and international prizes. Gert Dumbar has been the chairman of the Dutch Association of Graphic Designers.

He worked after that as a freelance graphic designer and copy writer. His studio was established in 1970 and is involved in many poster design recently. His many awards include the 5th Lahti International Poster Biennale Grand Prize in 1983, the Honorary Award at the 12th Warsaw International Poster Biennale and the Grand Design Quality Award at the 1993 German Communication Design Competition.

Born in Mümliswil in the German speaking part of Switzerland and completed the preparatory course at the Kunstgewerbeschle, Lucerne. While studying graphic design with Hugo Wetli of Bern, he attended art schools in Basel and Bern. In 1972, he established his studio in Lausanne and started teaching at the Lausanne University of Art. In 1984, he established Les Atelier du Nord., a graphic industrial studio with friends. His works are in collections around the world  including the New York Museum of Modern Art.

1987年グラフィック担当のアンドレュー・アルトマン、デヴィッド・エリスと映像担当のハワード・グリーンハルフの3人が英国王立美術大学卒業と同時に設立。在学中から既に高い評価を得ていて名前が売れていたが、それが実社会でどこかで通よするかを確かめようとしたものだ。予想される中傷などにも考慮して、「ホワイ・ノット」という冗談半分の名前にアソシエイツを付け加えてネーミングした。1990年にホワイ・ノット・フィルムズを引き続きホワイ・ノット・パブリッシングを設立。現在、王立美術大学のデザインの講義も担当している。

ロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アート（RCA）同級生であるアンディ・アルトマン、デイヴィッド・エリス、ハワード・グリーンホルグは、1987年RCA卒業とともに、領域横断デザイングループ、ホワイ・ノット・アソシエイツを（3枚の製図版だけを持って）設立。以来25年にわたり、伝統的なグラフィックデザインの枠を飛び越える革新的作品で知られる。様々なメディアをつかった実験精神を、CI、モーショングラフィックス、TVコマーシャル、エディトリアル、出版、環境デザインなどに展開させることで、既成概念を破ってきた。主なクライアントに、英国王立芸術院、マルコム・マクラーレン、ポンピドゥー・センター、ロイヤル・メール、ナイキ、ポール・スミス、ヴァージン・レコード、アントニー・ゴームリー、BBC、チャンネル４、テート・モダンほか。
1991年、エドワード・ブース‐クリボーン、リック・ポイナーとともに『タイポグラフィ・ナウ』を編集、デザイン。同書は当時のタイポグラフィの動向を検証する書籍としてベストセラーとなり、最も重要かつ参照される本となった。
1998年、10年間の活動をまとめた作品集がブース・クリボーン社より出版される。2004年には続く5年間の活動をまとめた作品集第2弾がテムズ・アンド・ハドソンより刊行。1993年にディレクター業に専念するためグリーンホルグが去って以来、スタジオはアルトマンとエリスにより運営されているが、つくることと実験への愛が変わることはない。依然、グラフィックデザインの領域を打破すべく取り組んでおり、近年のプロジェクトであるアーティスト ゴードン・ヤングとのコラボレーションは、Why Notをパブリック・アートの世界へと導いた。

This was established in 1987 by Andrew who handled graphics, David　Ellis and Howard Greenhalf who handled film upon their graduation from the British Royal University of Art. They had already established their reputations and made a name for themselves while they were in school but they then had to see how far they could go in the real world. They chose the name "Why Not" for the Associates half as a joke anticipating the criticism they would get. Why Not Publishing was established in 1990 to replace Why Not Films. They currently also lecture on design at the Royal University of Art.

On leaving the Royal College of Art in 1987 (with just three drawing boards) fellow graduates Andy Altmann, David Ellis and Howard Greenhalgh immediately formed the multi disciplinary design group Why Not Associates. For over 25 years Why Not Associates have become known for creating innovative work that pushed the boundaries of traditional graphic design. They have achieved this by a love of experimenting in many different media and applying it through corporate identity, motion graphics, television commercials direction, editorial design, publishing and environmental design. Why Not Associates clients include the Royal Academy of Arts, Malcolm Mcclaren, Pompidou Centre, Royal Mail, Nike, Paul Smith, Virgin Records, Antony Gormley, BBC, Channel 4 and the Tate Modern.
In 1991 Why Not Associates collaborated with Edward Booth-Clibborn and Rick Poyner to edit and design Typography Now: The Next wave – which became the most significant, most referenced, best selling survey of typographic trends and thinking of its time.
A monograph was published in 1998 by Booth-Clibborn editions documenting the first ten years of their work. A second was published in 2004 by Thames and Hudson which documented another five years.
The studio (now run by Altmann and Ellis after Greenhalgh left in 1993 to pursue a directing career) remains as committed as ever to the love of making and experimentation. They still strive to push the boundaries of graphic design and more recent projects collaborating with artist Gordon Young have moved them into the world of public art.

東京都生まれ。1962年桑沢デザイン研究所卒業。広告代理店を経て、A＆A青葉益輝広告制作室を設立。1963~64年朝日広告賞、準朝日広告賞、1962年ブルノ国際グラフィックビエンナーレグランプリ、1987年ワルシャワ国際ポスタービエンナーレ金賞、1992年NY ADC国際展金賞など受賞。1993年に1998年長野冬季オリンピック第1回公式ポスター制作。1995年日本宣伝賞山名賞。2006年紫綬褒章受章。AGI会員、東京ADC委員、JAGDA理事。

Born in Tokyo. after graduating from Kuwasawa Design School in 1962, he worked at advertising design agencies before establishing the Masuteru Aoba Design Office in 1969. His numerous awards include the Asahi Advertising Award, the Brno International Graphic Design Biennale Grand Prix, the Warsaw International Poster Biennale Gold prize, and the New York Art Directors Club International Exhibition Gold Prize. In 1993 he produced the first official poster for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. He won the JAAC Yamana Prize in 1995, and in 2006 was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon. He is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale, a committee member of the Tokyo Art Directors Club and a director of Japan Graphic Designers Association.
