60年代のイラストレーションを代表する4名が、映画のエンターテイメントをテーマに新作に取り組む。往年の女優や映画の名場面をモチーフに新作12点を作成。なお、各人が催事ポスター、ポートレート、時代劇、挿絵を紹介。

The 4 leaders in illustrations of the 60's undertook new works with the theme of movies as entertainment. 12 new works were made with actresses of the past and famous movie scenes as motifs. Each showed event posters, portraits, period plays and illustrations.

兵庫県生まれ。1956年山陽電車宣伝部入社。1961年より早川良雄デザイン事務所勤務を経て1967年フリーとなる。SDA賞金省、講談社出版文化賞、日本印刷工業会会長賞、フジサンケイ雑誌広告イラストレ―ション賞など受賞。桑沢デザイン研究所講師。講談社出版文化賞挿絵選考委員。TIS代表。

神戸生まれ。1956年山陽電車宣伝部に嘱託入社。1961年早川デザイン事務所に入所し、67年よりフリー。日本サインデザイン協会金賞、講談社出版文化賞、ニューヨーク・ジャパン・グラフィックデザイン大賞など受賞。1993年紫綬褒章受章。1982年韓国・ソウルにてイラストレーション個展。講談社出版文化賞挿絵部門選考委員。東京イラストレーターズ・ソサエティ代表。

Born in Hyogo, he joined Sanyo Train Advertising in 1956. After the Yoshio Hayakawa Design Office, which he joined in 1961, he started freelancing in 1967. He won the SDA Gold Prize, the Kodansha Publishing Cultural Award, the Nippon Printing Industry Chairman's Award, the Fuji Sankei Magazine Advertising Illustration Award. He is a lecturer at the Kuwasawa Design Institute, a member of the selection committee for the Kodansha Publishing Cultural Illustration Award, and a TIS representative.

Born in Kobe. His professional career began in the advertising department of Sanyo Electric Railway in 1956, after which he joined Yoshio Hayakawa's Design Office in 1961. He went freelance in 1967. His major awards include Gold Prize of the SDA, Kodansha Cultural Awards in Publishing, NY Japan Graphic Design Grand Prize. He granter the Purple Ribbon Medal in 1993. He held a one-man illustration show in Seoul, Korea, in 1982. He is the representative of the Tokyo Illustrators Society.

Born in Nagoya, he graduated from Nagoya Technological High School. After Calpis Foods and the Japan Design Center, he began to freelance, he has won the Japan Advertising Artists Club Special Mention and Members Awards, the Tokyo Illustrations Club Award, the Kodansha Publishing Cultural Illustration Award, the Sanrio Art Award, and the Red Bird Illustration Award. He is a TIS member. Books: Include "The World of Akira Uno," "Masquerade" and "Le Cinema."

大阪生まれ。1959年多摩美術大学卒業、ライトパブリシティに入社。東洋レーヨン、キヤノンカメラなどの広告を手がける。1968年よりフリーに。1965年より『話の特集』のアートエディター。1968-73年『週刊サンケイ』の表紙を担当。1977年より『週刊文春』の表紙を描いて現在に至る。文春漫画賞、講談社出版文化賞ブックデザイン賞、日本ノンフィクション賞など受賞。1984年映画「麻雀放浪記」、1988年「怪盗ルビイ」を監督。

1959年多摩美術大学卒業、ライトパブリシティに入社。1968年よりフリー。1965年雑誌『話の特集』にADとして参加。1968年より4年数ヶ月『週刊サンケイ』の表紙に似顔絵を描く。1977年『週刊文春』の表紙を担当し、現在に至る。1974年講談社出版文化賞、1997年毎日デザイン賞。出版した書籍は100冊を超える。デザイン、イラストレーション関係は『デザイン街路図』『PEOPLE』『ポスターランド』『和田誠百貨店』『和田誠装幀の本』『装丁物語』『似顔絵物語』『時間旅行』など。映画監督でもある。

Born in Osaka, he graduated from Tama Art University in 1959 and started working for Light publicity where he handled advertising for Toyo Rayon and Canon Camera among others. He started freelancing in 1968 and became art editor for "Hanashi no Tokushu" in 1965. He did the covers from "Shukan Sankei" between 1968-73 and for "Shukan Bunshun" from 1977. He won the Bunshun Comics Award, the Kodansha Publishing Cultural Book Design Award and the Japan Non-Fiction Award. He directed "Mahjong Meanderings" in 1984 and "Ruby―The Elusive Thief" in 1988.

In 1959 joined Light Publicity after graduating from Tama Art University, and began working independently from 1968. Participated in "Hanashi no Tokushu" magazine as art director. From 1968, in as series that ran for more than 4 years, began drawing caricature covers for "Sakei Weekly." From 1977 to present, of "Weekly Bunshun." Major awards include1974, Kodansha Publication Culture Award (book design), 1997, Mainichi Design Prize. Authored more than 100 published works. Those concerned with design and illustration include, "Design Streetmap," "People," "Poster Land," "Makoto Wada Department Store," "Book Designed by Makoto Wada," "Bookbinding Story," "Caricature Story," and "Time Travel." Also directs movies.

松江市生まれ、東京芸術大学油画科卒業。西武百貨店宣伝部デザインルームを経て、フリーランスのイラストレーターとして、劇場、映画館、ミュージアム、レストラン、そしてアパレル店舗を融合したPARCOの広告制作に参加。1972年よりエアブラシを用いた女性像を描き、一躍時代を象徴するアーティストとなる。近年、山口の作品は、2018年Nottingham Contemporary（イギリス）「The House of Fame」、2017年Centre Pompidou-Metz（フランス）「Japanorama. A new vision on art since 1970」、2016年PARCO MUSEUM個展「Hyper! HARUMI GALS!!」（東京）といった展覧会で国内外の美術館でも発表されている。 パブリックコレクションとして、Museum of Modern Art（ニューヨーク）、CCGA現代グラフィックアートセンター（福島）などに作品を収蔵。

Born in Matsue in Shimane Prefecture, Japan, Yamaguchi graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts with a degree in oil painting. After working in the publicity department of Seibu Department Stores, she began her career as a freelance illustrator. In this capacity she participated in numerous advertising projects for PARCO, a leading chain of shopping complexes that encompass not only department stores but also a theater, cinema, a museum, restaurants, and clothing stores. Leading the chain are the PARCO stores opened in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district in 1969 and in the Shibuya area in 1973. Since 1972, Yamaguchi has depicted female figures using airbrush techniques, instantly establishing herself as an illustrator who symbolizes the era. In recent years, Yamaguchi’s works have been presented in exhibitions at museums in Japan and abroad, including “Japanorama. A new vision on art since 1970” at Centre Pompidou-Metz (France, 2017), “The House of Fame” at Nottingham Contemporary (UK, 2018), and “Hyper! HARUMI GALS!!” at PARCO MUSEUM (Tokyo, 2016). Her works are included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA: New York), the Center for Contemporary Graphic Art (CCGA: Fukushima, Japan), etc.
