Born in Moravia, Czecho, he seriously began working in design after graduating from VUT Bruno Industrial University in 1974. He was appointed to the Bruno International Graphic Design Biennial opening committee in 1985 and served as chairperson from 1992-98. He was chairperson for the same biennial association in 1999. He has judged international biennial and triennials in Moscow, Croatia, Ukraine and Poland. He heads Rajlich Design and the Industrial Design Department of VUT University.
