イタリアのヴェニスを拠点に活躍するタピロの幅広い仕事の中から、国際的な美術の祭典として名高いヴェニス・ビエンナーレのための作品に焦点をあて、1983年から20年にわたって手がけたポスター57点を中心にプログラムやチケットなどを展示した。

From the wide range of works undertaken by Tapiro, based in Venice, Italy, the exhibition focused on works made for the renowned festival, the Venice Biennale. 57 posters undertaken in the 20 years since 1983 were shown with programs and tickets.

1979年創立。創立者であるエンリコ・カンプラニとジャンルイジ・ぺスコルデルングはともに1953年生まれ。建築分野ではともにヴェニス建築大学卒業、美術分野でもともに国際美術大学の視覚デザイン専攻。スタジオの活動はイタリア国内から海外まで、画像のコーディネーションから各種デザインシステム、展示デザイン、画像編集、ポスターデザイン、イラストレーションにまで及んでいる。

Established in 1979, the founders, Enrico Camplani and Gianluigi Pescolderung were both born in 1953. For architecture , the both graduated from the Venice University of Architecture and for art, they also both majored in visual design at the International University of Art. The studio's activities take place within Italy and abroad and cover everything from image coordination to various design systems, exhibition design, image editing, poster design and illustrations.

日本にはグラフィックデザインを中心に展示するギャラリーがいくつか存在しています。しかし、世界的に見ると、そのような施設はほとんどなく、グラフィックデザイナーの個展やグラフィックデザインをテーマにした企画展が常時行われているこの環境は、かなり特殊なことだといえます。 そのなかの一つであるdddギャラリーは、同じ組織が運営する東京のgggと比べて、オルタナティブな姿勢で活動をしてきたという点でさらに希少な存在だと言えます。著名なデザイナーの個展を軸に据えたgggとは対照的に、dddギャラリーは「日本人がまだ知らない海外デザイナー」の紹介を初期の方針に持ち、その後も東京以西のデザイナーの紹介や他領域のデザイナーの展覧会を行うなど、ここでしか見られない展覧会活動を続けています。 gggからの巡回展が享受できるだけでなく、dddギャラリーでしか見られない展覧会があること。それはデザイナーやデザイン学生にとって恵まれた環境だと思います。このキーワードでは、dddでしか見ることができなかった展覧会をセレクトしています。

There are a few galleries in Japan whose exhibitions pivot around graphic design. If we look overseas however, institutions like these are even rarer; a place where solo graphic design exhibitions and other special exhibitions with graphic design themes happen regularly is quite a special thing. ddd gallery is one of those places; it’s even rarer when you consider that they’ve always maintained an alternative stance compared with ggg in Tokyo (which is also run by DNP Foundation). In stark contrast to ggg, which has a history centered around solo exhibitions of celebrated designers, they have always tried to hold exhibitions with “international designers yet unknown to Japanese,” designers West of Tokyo, and designers from other fields—even now they still continue to hold exhibitions that can’t be seen elsewhere. Where possible, they have avoided being the next leg on touring exhibitions from ggg, choosing to hold their own exhibitions viewable only at ddd Gallery instead.
